SMALL GROUPS ONLY accepted (6 or less)
GROUPS OF MORE THAN 6 ARE NOT PERMITTED AT THE HOSTEL (unless booked through our group booking department: see below for more information) - if you go ahead and book online YOUR RESERVATION WILL BE CANCELLED and your deposit lost. We do not make exceptions to this. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE SEPARATE BOOKINGS UNDER DIFFERENT NAMES - MULTIPLE BOOKINGS (if you book a number of rooms separately or using different names) for the same people WILL ALWAYS BE TURNED AWAY ON ARRIVAL OR ASKED TO LEAVE - but your card will be charged. Don't take the risk!
To guarantee a pleasant stay for our guests and to provide a relaxed atmosphere WE DO NOT ACCEPT STAG NIGHTS, HEN NIGHTS, SPORTS TOURS, SPORTS TEAMS, BIRTHDAY PARTIES etc Groups falsely claiming not to be any of these will be refused check in or asked to leave, forfeiting any payments made. Reception is staffed 24 hours.

If you are coming to Belfast to party all night THIS IS NOT the hostel for you!
BIYH has a strict NO SMOKING policy - in line with the law in Northern Ireland. ALCOHOL IS NOT PERMITTED. ONLY REGISTERED GUESTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE HOSTEL. Night staff can refuse access to guests who return to the hostel after the doors have closed at 11pm if they are likely to cause any disruption/disturbance.
To book for a large organised group (schools, universities, church groups etc) please contact the hostel directly to make your reservation. Contact details are available at www.hini.org.uk
We welcome guests of all ages, including families with children, school groups etc from all over the world. Respect and consideration for your fellow guests and hostel staff is expected at all times. The hostel 'quiet time' is 11pm to 7am - this is strictly enforced. Anyone causing problems for staff or complaints from other guests will be asked to leave, with no exceptions.
A PHOTOGRAPHIC ID, which is held at reception, is required as a key deposit from EVERYONE checking in at BIYH.
UNDER 18s - Under 18s are never checked in unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
FAMILIES
Please book a bed for ALL children travelling with you. CHILDREN UNDER 16 are not permitted to share a room with adults who are not part of their group in line with our 'child protection' policy - please book a private room if children under 16 are travelling with you. Booking 3 beds in a 4 bedded room will not guarantee you exclusive use of that room - the same with booking 5 beds in a 6 bedded room.
CHECK THE DETAILS OF YOUR RESERVATION BEFORE CONFIRMING - changes at check in are rarely possible
THE HOSTEL:
The biggest and best hostel in Belfast ... ideally situated just 10 minutes walk from the Europa Bus Station and 5 minutes from Botanic Train Station. We are open 24 hours a day 365 days a year! The best location in town for museums, galleries, music venues, shops and pubs and clubs. Queen's University and the Botanic Gardens are a 5 minute walk - and City Hall just 15 minutes away on foot.
THE ROOMS:
Our 'en-suite' rooms have comfortable wooden beds with reading lights, some space for your luggage - and of course a private shower room/toilet. The en-suite dormitories have lockers under the beds.
PLEASE NOTE THAT TOWELS AND SOAP ARE NOT PROVIDED
Our 'standard' rooms have black metal bunk beds - again all with a reading light.
Rooms listed on our booking page as 'twin private shared bathroom' have bunk beds.
HOT WATER: Our hot water boilers are on from 5am until 1.30pm - and from 6pm until 11.30pm. Water temperature outside these times is dependent on use.
LUGGAGE:
There is a luggage room at reception - this service is provided free of charge.

The cafe offers a wide and varied breakfast, brunch choice. A large selection of Breakfast items start at uner £1.00 - what great value!!!
The Cafe is open from 8 am to 11 am, seven days a week - apart from a few days at Christmas.....we all need a day off....:-)
What exactly do we sell?? The cafe also sells everything from Fresh Fruit, Biscuits, Soft Drinks, Spring Water, Crisps, Chocolate, Freshly Ground Coffee, Speciality Teas, Hot Chocolate, Packed Lunches, Fresh Sandwiches, Ulster Fry's, Speciality Breakfast and Brunch Menu includes filled Bagels, Freshly Baked Croissant, Scrambled/Fried Eggs with Toast, Beans, Sausages, Bacon etc
With bargain priced quality menus like this why bother cooking yourself?!
SELF-CATERING KITCHEN:
Fully equipped and open from 6 am to 10.30 am and 12 noon to 9pm.
INTERNET IS AVAILABLE IN THE HOSTEL LOBBY - at coin operated kiosks. WiFi access is also charged.
