Completed in 1906 to commemorate Queen Victoria giving Belfast the status of City in 1888, the City Hall was built in the classic Renaissance style in Portland Stone. Its crowning feature is the great Dome, covered with copper and terminating with a stone lantern. The Dome is 173 feet high and is easily recognised throughout the City of Belfast.
